Some Essential WordPress Plugins

If your blawg uses WordPress then some of the most essential plugins to install and activate would be:

  1. Akismet: This plugin usually comes in bundled with WordPress but needs to be activated. It can be activated by clicking “Plugins” tab from the Administrator dashboard and clicking the “Activate” link under the “Action” column. Additionally, an API key is required which can be generated free of charge by signing up with WordPress.com.

  2. All-In-One SEO Pack: I have alluded in other posts that SEO or Search Engine Optimization is vital for a blawg and this plugin in my opinion does a great SEO job.

  3. FeedBurner FeedSmith: Confused about RSS and syndicating the feeds from your blawg? Is it RSS 2.0 or Atom or something else? This Feedburner consolidates all feeds into one and provides nifty stats.

  4. WP-Cache: Essential for high volume blawgs. This plugin limits the number of database access by caching the page so the speed of the blog improves dramatically.

Are there any plugins that you can’t live without and are not covered above? Let me know and I’ll include it.
