Testing Your Blawg
It is difficult to test your blog (blawg) under different browsers and operating systems as there are simply too many permutations. However, there is a web-based tool that does a pretty good job of emulating different browsers under various operating systems. The tool is called BrowserShots.Org and it is free.
I tested how www.diyblawgs.com looks under Windows for Internet Explorers (IE) 4, 5, 5.5, 6 and 7 plus FireFox 1.5 and 2.0. I also tested under Mac for FireFox and Safari. The results were better than I expected.
Some tips on testing your blawg under different browsers.
- Check your blawg statistics to find out which browsers and operating systems access your blog the most. A very good web analytics software that is free is Google Analytics.
- Use BrowserShots.Org to test for the browser and operating system identified in the step above.
- Always test for Windows and Internet Explorer combinations because they are the dominant market leaders.
